Pray for TAY

I'd like for you to meet Taylor. This is one of the young men that Brady works with. Taylor is always smiling. He is confined to a wheelchair but that hasn't stopped him. If anything, it has made him more determined. Once you meet Taylor, you'll never forget him. And you'll never be the same. He has a way of softening hearts. His sister, Courtney is one of my young women. She is also amazing.

Taylor has Duchenne muscular dystrophy or DMD. He had surgery at Primary Children’s Hospital on Monday. Tay needed surgery because his scoliosis, which is a result of the DMD, was getting worse.

Doctors attached metal rods to each side of his spine. The rods were then connected to his pelvic bone. The surgery took about 8 hours. Taylor will be in the hospital for 7-10 days. After that, he will recover at home for 2 months. They said he would gain 4 inches in height after his spine was straightened.

We ordered red dog tags and arm bands for the youth to wear. (Red is his favorite color.) I'm excited because we will be taking the YW & YM up to see him tonight.

I wish everyone I know could meet Taylor's family. They take care of each other in the most inspiring way. I imagine they have changed many lives. It has been interesting to watch the changes in my husband as he has grown to love the smiling boy in the wheel chair.

Tay's mom, Misty, started a blog about the surgery so if you'd like to pop over and take a look, I'm sure she would appreciate a kind comment or two. I can't imagine how hard this has been on her. She needs support.

Thanks for reading.
