Our Challenge:
Build a Pinewood Derby car in 3 daysa block of wood
paint
sandpaper
4 wheels
I almost couldn't believe it when Jet showed up with a block of wood and a note announcing that the Pinewood Derby Race for his boy scout pack would be in 3 days!!! I guess when you belong to a newly formed ward that is in a newly formed stake...these things happen.
We didn't have time to go down to Brady's parents house and use the wood shop...So, I called my brother who came to the rescue by cutting the car shape out at work. And then Jet finished the car in one night. It was a lot of fun watching him choose paint colors and practice sketching flames. He was determined to have a bright red car with a purple racing stripe and green flames. Brady and I just gave eachother that look that says, "Uh huh. We'll believe it when we see it."
And then something amazing happened...
The piece of wood actually became a race car!
I really don't know much about the Boy Scouts and their Pinewood Derby races. But I can tell you this...
LOTS OF FUN!!

Here he is. He raced a total of three times. He won first place twice and second place once.
The big shocker:
He also won Best of Show!
(Not bad for a rush job!)
