It's cheesy, I know. But I couldn't put the Scrabble game away until I took a picture to commemorate Family Fun Night at our house. We usually do this a few times each month. I wish I could say we have a regular night every week for Family Fun Night but life is crazy. Sometimes I feel like it's all I can do to keep my head above water.
Family Fun Night--not to be confused with FHE, another great tradition--is a time for us to relax and enjoy being together. We act silly, we play games, we tell jokes, we dance to disco music. One time we spent the entire night rhyming like Fezzik from The Princess Bride. It doesn't really matter what we do. The fact that we are together is what is important.
Tonight we played Scrabble.
The teams were boys against girls. I tried to claim a handicap for my team since I'm a terrible speller. It turned out that I didn't need one. Jet was very excited. He kept forgetting that he and his dad were a team. Brady would be ready to lay down a bunch of letters to make a big word & score triple points when Jet would suddenly put one letter down to make a word like "at." Meanwhile, Lexa was worried that our cat felt left out because she can't spell.
If you are like us and you find that life gets a little crazy sometimes, put Family Fun Night on your calendar. It's a great way to let your kids know you love them!

what a great tradition to have with your family. i LOVE word games, especially scrabble and mad gab. my boys are a little young for all those games, but i'm sure i could think of some fun things to do with them. i miss you!
Since we dont have connection to the TV we do this more often. We should play more games but its so hard when your youngest is two and there isnt alot of family games for the kids when they are that young. So it will be pizza and movie night or we will do tickle monster night where for an hour or so we will play like monsters and chase after them .
