CONNECTIONS

If we are going to be friends, you need to know that I'm a people watcher. I will watch everything you do. I won't judge you, I'll just try to learn all that I can about you. I am fascinated by the different ways human beings react and interact. People tell you more through body language than they'll ever tell you face to face.

I also love to see people connect. Some of us seem to be wired the same way and we immediately connect. I love it when that happens. Have you ever met someone and felt instantly connected to them?

For example, Brookie and Brady. They couldn't be more opposite in appearance. Short, dark hair, long eyelashes -- versus -- Tall, bald, tough... But somehow, these two connect. When Brookie stays at our house, she can often be found shadowing her uncle around. I have a picture on the wall of Brookie sitting atop Brady's shoulders. One time she called me and said, "Can I come over and pway wiff Jet's daddy? Pwweeeease!"

I find it interesting that it is both easy and difficult to connect with people in our day. Have you noticed? On one hand, people are connected more than ever. The internet has a lot to do with it. I have talked to people on facebook that I probably never would have seen again if it weren't for the internet.

However, I have also noticed how disconnected a lot of people seem to be. Just go to the store and you'll see people who can't even run in for a gallon of milk without having to have the cell phone glued to their ear. They seem connected to that person on the phone but I wonder...are they actually trying to stay disconnected from the people in the store? "If I'm talking on the phone, nobody will talk to me". Or maybe they think it makes them look busy or important when in reality, they often seem loud, and rude? Yes, I talk on the phone in the store too. I was only making an observation.
