Willy grew up to be Bill too,
Tommy grew up to be Tom,
Danny grew up to be Dan,
Why didn't Brady grow up to be Brad?

Well, I think it's probably because if you just took the 'y' off, it would be pronounced "braid." Little girly, don't you think? :)
My guess would be for the same reason that Corey didn't grow up to be Core and Casey didn't grow up to be Case. But what do I know?
