It felt like I went back in time a couple of weeks ago...
...when I headed to Mutual Dell for
GiRl'S CaMp!!!
It had been a long time since I thought about my days as a YW at camp. Lots of great memories came racing back to my mind.
I was happy to find that they still sing the same funny songs, (along with a few new ones.) They still scream when they find a spider lurking in the tent. They still wear crazy hair-dos. And they still sneak makeup into camp and then forget to wear it!
The stake theme was Bloom Where You Are Planted and our girls chose to be the rosebuds. You can imagine how surprised they were when the Bishop came to dinner and brought them each a rose. Of course, TESTIMONY MEETING was the ultimate highlight of camp. I was touched when each girl bore her testimony and included the words, "I know that I am a daughter of God." There is a lot of power in that eternal truth.
Here are some of my terrific girls singing our ward chant.
We are just the 5th ward rosebuds, fighting for the right,
We're gonna take on the world some day.
We've got smiles on our face ~ scriptures in our case,
Bound and determined to BLOOM IN OUR PLACE.
Singing...we are...we are... righteous...(5th ward)
We are...we are...righteous...(5th ward)

Oh MJ I am so jealous! I loved LOVED girls camp. Oh how I miss that week of inspiration and totally unity that can only happen at girls camp. And I bet the Girls just LOVED you.
so are you a YW leader now?! i'm VERY jealous you got to go to Girls Camp. i'm in NY right now visiting my whole family. my mom is the camp director this year. i'm kinda sad that i leave NY just a week or two before camp. i would've loved to go to camp with her and help out. oh well. what have you been up to this summer? do you have any exciting plans?
