I didn't realize that my last post about Jet was rather gloomy until Brady mentioned that he thought it was emotional. I asked him if he thought I should erase it from my blog and he said that maybe I should. I went back and reread it. And I agree with him. I must have been in a melancholy mood that day. However, I am not going to delete it because I want this blog to be an accurate expression of who I am. Sometimes I do feel melancholy. But not always. Most days, like today, I feel happy.
So, this one's for Brady who reads all of my ramblings...
Yesterday I was watching TV with the closed captioning feature on. (So I could talk on the phone at the same time.) A commercial came on and the closed caption said "Upbeat, yet thoughtful music playing."
Why don't you go ahead and imagine some music like that in your head right now.
Dear JET,
The minute we found out that we were pregnant, your dad named you Jet. "It sounds like a superstar!" Is what he said. Just yesterday he looked at this picture of you and said, "Man, that is one good looking kid!"
They asked me to keep you in my room at the hospital because your cry was so loud it would wake up all of the other babies. I didn't mind. I kept you in the bed with me for those first few days. You slept with your head on my heart. Once we brought you home, I hardly ever heard you cry because Lexa was always nearby and would come over and hold your hand if you made as much as a peep. It was like magic, you would stop crying immediately.
As soon as your uncles saw you, they called you JUMBO Jet. You should have seen them when they heard that you weighed 11 pounds at your 2 week check up, they were ecstatic! They are 3 of your biggest fans.
Lexa used to put necklaces on you and she would hang bracelets from your ears, earrings of course! And for the record, you have Grandma Peggy's English ears!
For a long time you would put a green Tupperware bowl on your head and pretend that you were a soldier. These days you are a Star Wars Trooper. You even wrote that as your name on the papers at school earlier this year. "Trooper Jet." (Thank goodness for patient teachers.)
There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about how lucky I am to be your mom. You have brought me more joy than I could have ever imagined!
Happy Birthday, Jetster!

That is a darling picture of him. He is a good looking kid.
I do love that boy. He's by far my favorite non-nephew/mini me. Give him a big fat hug and a sloppy kiss for me. ;-)
